Commission a Custom Piece — Brief Intake | Crafters Market

How custom orders work

Have something special in mind? Share your idea, preferred materials, budget and timing to request a custom piece. Quotes depend on maker availability and whether the project is a fit.

Describe what you would like made, including dimensions, materials, reference images and your preferred completion date. A maker may contact you to discuss details before providing a quote. Response times vary, and submitting a request does not guarantee a quote or acceptance.

If you receive a quote, you can message the maker through the platform and decide whether to accept it before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe. Sending a brief is free and there's no commitment.

Common custom requests

• Custom metal signs — address plaques, family-name signs, gate signage
• Memorial pieces — engraved hardwood, plasma-cut tribute signs
• Wedding gifts — monogrammed, dated, themed for the couple
• Business signs — storefronts, taprooms, food trucks, lobbies
• Custom ranch signs — gate entry markers, brand plaques

What to include in the brief

• Description of the piece and reference images (sketches OK, AI mock-ups OK)
• Material preference (steel, aluminum, copper, hardwood, etc.) — or let the maker recommend
• Dimensions, or the space it has to fit
• Timeline / event date, if you have a deadline
• Budget range — helps the maker scope the right approach
